Providing testing for symptomatic WashU Med employees and BJH-employed residents and fellows.
If you have symptoms associated with COVID-19, even mild symptoms, please call the COVID-19 Testing Hotline 314-362-5056 to be assessed for testing. This service is available for employees working on campus and those working fully remotely.
The hotline staff are highly trained to gather the correct information and follow protocols to ensure that everybody with a reasonable suspicion of COVID-19 is referred to testing, which can usually be performed the same day with results in 24-48 hours.
UPDATE 12/21/20: Influenza testing
As the winter months have descended, we have begun testing symptomatic individuals for both COVID and Influenza. This will occur automatically when you call the COVID call center.
If you have recently had COVID, you will only be tested for Influenza. This is because the COVID PCR tests we use can remain positive for up to four months from initial infection, even though there is no evidence of ongoing spread of disease after 10 days in immunocompetent individuals. This is also why we do not re-test people before allowing them back at work.
